Late in 2008, two ATV riders had a chance encounter while camping next to each other in the Boise National Forest. During their initial conversation, Beth and Robert found they had several things in common. Not only were they avid year-round ATV riders, but they both also lived in Kuna, not more than five minutes from each other's house. Ultimately, they discovered a shared passion for riding in the Owyhee desert. From that point on, it was a foregone conclusion that the community of Kuna, Idaho, should have their own ATV association.
By January 2009, Beth and Robert had begun the Kuna Chapter of the Idaho State ATV Association. Armed with the ISATVSA's mission statement: "keeping the roads and trails open for all," Beth and Robert began to build a functioning hierarchy for the newly-formed chapter by naming the chapter Kuna Trail Riders (KTR). Within two months, they filled the positions for president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and three sitting board members.
Six months after inception, the KTR group had participated in several community events, developed the Owyhee Trail Clean Project (OTC), and had won numerous awards for community involvement. KTR quickly became a champion in keeping the Owyhees clean of trash and debris while promoting the trail rider's privilege of enjoying our public land.
KTR continues to work closely with the public and private sectors to foster our mission statement.
