History

In The Beginning

Late in 2008, two ATV riders had a chance encounter while camping next to each other in the Boise National Forest.  During their initial conversation, Beth and Robert found they had several things in common.  Not only were they avid year-round ATV riders, but they both also lived in Kuna, not more than five minutes from each other's house.  Ultimately, they discovered a shared passion for riding in theOwyhee desert.  From that point on, it was a foregone conclusion that the community of Kuna,Idaho, should have their own ATV association.

By January 2009, Beth and Robert had begun the Kuna Chapter of the Idaho State ATV Association.  Armed with the ISATVSA's mission statement: "keeping the roads and trails open for all," Beth and Robert began to build a functioning hierarchy for the newly formed chapter by naming the chapter Kuna Trail Riders (KTR).  Within two months, they filled the positions for president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and three sitting board members.

Six months after inception, the KTR group had participated in several community events, developed the Owyhee Trail Clean Project (OTC), and had won numerous awards for community involvement.  KTR quickly became a champion in keeping the Owyhee’s clean of trash and debris while promoting the trail rider's privilege of enjoying our public land.  ↓

Idaho State ATV Association, Inc. (ISATVA) Merger

On August 10, 2009, Gem State ATV Association President Clark Collins and Idaho State ATV Association President Bill Jones met in Boise to discuss the possibility of combining the two organizations.  It was agreed that Idaho’s ATV user community would benefit from merging the two organizations and retaining the Idaho State ATV Association (ISATVA) name for the new organization.  Collins and Jones also agreed that it would be best for Collins to seek election as President of the new ISATVA.

Following that meeting, Collins contacted the leaders of the member clubs of the two associations inviting them to participate in the decision-making process to approve the Merger, draft Bylaws and elect new officers.  That process was conducted by e-mail.  Bylaws were fine-tuned and agreed upon in September and October 2009 and the organizing process concluded with the unanimous consent election of the initial slate of volunteer officers on November 24, 2009.

The KTR played an integral part of this process and was one of the initial ATV organizations to join the newly formed ISATVA.  Because of the merger, the KTR changed its name from being a Chapter to its current identification as an ATV Club and member of the ISATVA.  ↓
